It’s not every day that hitting the shops makes Nikky Smart well up. “I’m really emotional,” said the 35-year-old David Bowie fanatic from Maidenhead, blinking back tears. “It’s kind of like they’ve brought him back again.”
They are words that will be music to the ears of the late rock god’s estate, which is behind a pop-up memorabilia store-cum-fanzone that opened last week on Heddon Street, the precise location in London’s West End where his fictional Ziggy Stardust came to Earth.
